Returning Used Motor Oil to its Original State

The recycling of used motor oil is a relatively new concept in the U.S. but it is a well established one in other parts of the world, especially in Europe.

Similar to the recycling of other materials such as paper or plastics, the used motor oil will be processed to return it to its original form, base oil, for reuse in motor oils and other lubricating products.

Because the recycled base oils are of the same quality as virgin base oils, it will help to reduce the country's dependence on crude oil and will do so through a sustainable cycle of re-use.

Base lube recycling involves a front-end process where the used motor oil is separated from its other elements such as water and contaminants, and a back-end process that further purifies and enriches it back to its previous state as crankcase oil suitable for use both in automobiles and trucks as well as high value co-products.

The FCC Environmental base lubricant recycling process results in a minimal amount of wastes for delivery to a landfill and all wastewater will be treated on site.
