A ‘Green’ Motor Oil Recycling Facility in Baltimore

FCC Environmental, LLC is investing more than $50 million in the design and construction of a “green” recycling center, the first of several base lube recycling facilities planned by the company and the first on the East Coast.

Approximately 40 million gallons of the 1.2 billion gallons of used motor oil that are collected in the U.S. every year will be recycled at the Baltimore center.

The recycled base lubricant will then be sold and transported off-site in trucks and by rail to be processed into passenger car motor oils, heavy duty engine oils, transmission fluids and other lubricating products.

Part of the Fairfield Urban Renewal Plan

The FCC Environmental recycling center is to be located on a six-acre parcel of land on the former Chevron Asphalt Terminal in Fairfield, part of the Baltimore Development Corporation's Fairfield Urban Renewal Plan, the State of Maryland's One Maryland Program, as well as part of the Enterprise Zone. It will be located immediately south of the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel (I-895).
